Access Statement for Bed and Breakfast at Yearle House

Located just over a mile from Wooler in the Northumberland National Park, Yearle House is an ideal retreat to escape the trappings of day-to-day life, relax and unwind. With four ensuite bedrooms on the first floor, the drawing room and dining room are on the ground floor. If you require assistance or have any enquiries, please do contact us on 01668 281 473 or email mylo@yearlehouse.co.uk.

There is a bus station in Wooler and the nearest train stations are in Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnmouth. It is advised to take a taxi from Wooler as the road is quite steep and there are no footpaths once out of the town.

Car Parking and Arrival

We have plenty of car parking outside the front of the house, approximately 10 metres from the front door. There are six steps up to the front door (all approximately 15cm) and the front door is 96 cms wide and we will offer assistance with luggage. The drive and car park are gravel. There is no disabled access due to the nature of the building.

Upon arrival, our guests are welcomed into the hall, which is a level wooden floor, and through a doorway 89 cms wide to take a seat in the drawing room, also with a level wooden floor, to register. A pen and pad of paper as well as a magnifying glass are available on request. The room is well lit with overhead lighting and table lamps.

Breakfast is served in the dining room through a step-free doorway 89 cms wide into a level carpeted area, where there are a number of tables and chairs, with and without arms. We cater for a range of dietary requirements; please do let us know upon booking. Our crockery is colour contrasted with the table where possible.

The cloakroom is located off the main hall, through a step-free doorway of 89 cms, and has a separate unisex toilet of height 44 cms with a doorway of 89 cms, with no space to the side of the toilet. The cloakroom has a handwash basin at a height of 84 cms with turn taps.

The garden and grounds are available for our guests to enjoy. There are uneven surfaces and steps throughout with benches available during the summer months.

Bedrooms

Our bedrooms are accessed from the hall up 14 stairs with a handrail to a landing and a further 3 stairs to another landing and then 3 more with handrail available, to the first floor. Each of our beds are 62 cm from the floor to the top of the mattress and there is plenty of space on the door side of each bed.
