The Area

North Northumberland is a hidden gem of a destination with a vast range of beautiful beaches, classic castles, terrific towns and wild walks. With the Scottish Borders just 15 miles north, with Coldstream, Kelso, Melrose and St. Boswells all within easy striking distance and even Edinburgh possible as a day trip. And funnily enough, just 15 miles to the east we have the Northumberland Coast AONB, with Holy Island and Lindisfarne Nature Reserve, Bamburgh for its beach and castle and Dunstanburgh too with Craster next door. Further afield there is Alnmouth and Warkworth and if you keep going south you will come to Newcastle upon Tyne in about an hour. On top of this we have Berwick-upon-Tweed and Alnwick, both just half an hour’s drive away.

Yearle House sits on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and there is much to explore here too, with many walks right from the door or a very short drive up into the hills if you want to save the warm up! Just over a mile from the house is Wooler, our local market town which plays host to Ad Gefrin, the Anglo-Saxon museum and whisky distillery, and a great selection of independent shops.
